A new blogging experience

Welcome to the Peakfetch blogging central!

This blog and all the others that will be headed by the Peakfetch name are part of a small project that strives to bring the pursuit of the ultimate sensation into your everyday life. By sensation, I mean whichever feeling or emotion brings satisfaction, pleasure, bliss and enjoyment and the betterment of self.

The term Peakfetch came about several years ago during conversations between myself and several good childhood friends, during which we groped around our adolescent psyches and debated our personal philosophies and opinions about life and the experiences therein. At the time we played music together in a small room under the garage of my friend's (aka Mike) parents' house.

This small room became our sanctuary, our lounge, our domain. It was a place where we jammed creatively together, wrote lyrics, wrestled with our frustrations and extolled our successes. It was a haven for friendship at a time when friendship is more important than anything else.

It was there that we coined the term Peakfetch, as a name for our band and our philosophy. The word peak was chosen as symbolising a powerful sensation, while fetch was ascribed to the journey involved in reaching that sensation.

The term Peakfetch describes the striving for betterment, the search for the peak, the quest for the top, the journey to the summit of sensation, of feeling, of experience and of life.

From that basement room emerged people that had a better outlook on life than those who entered several years earlier. Not because we developed a rigid mantra and strict guidelines that would bring us towards enlightenment. No, far from that.

Simply put, the people that emerged from that room had found out that nothing in life is permanent. Everything changes, everything evolves, even in minute ways. More often than not, in major ways. So if nothing is permanent and everything changes, then everything is always moving. Life becomes a journey of sorts. (Profound, neh?)

My friends and I are far from the first to say that life is a journey, but that doesn't make it less true. We are also far from the first to say that a journey's end isn't the point of embarking on a journey. Rather, the journey itself, the experience of it, is the whole point of embarking on a journey.

Thus, if life is a journey, the point of life is simply to experience everything to the fullest, to enjoy the journey of life, to seek out new life and new civilizations (oops, wrong show). Ahem. Yes, well. You get the point.
Simplistic as this philosophy may seem, I find it all the more potent.

So there we are, wondering how the hell this applies to a blog?

It's simple enough. From this point on, this blog will publish news blurbs, images, videos and more that apply to the Peakfetch concept. It will also link the articles of all the other Peakfetch related blogs, websites, movies, music and books (and any other type of information considered pertinent).

Consider this the Peakfetch hub.

And with that, I bid you adieu.

Marc
